Learn MoreRainscreen installation is very occupant friendly – a major benefit of the rainscreen / over-cladding building strategy. Because installation takes place on the exterior, occupant activities inside the building can proceed with minimal or no disruption. Rainscreen installation and maintenance can also be extremely straight-forward and speedy, requiring no special tools or expertise to complete. That depends entirely on the system the architect chooses to use. See for example the YouTube video above. It features one of Bendheim’s proprietary glass rainscreen systems, and demonstrates how easy it can be to deglaze and replace a glass panel (in under 1 minute).
Bendheim glass rainscreens are also exceptionally easy to care for, because glass is inherently maintenance-friendly. If cleaning the rainscreen inside and out is required:
- 1It can be spray-hosed from above (in low-rise installations)
- 2A catwalk behind the rainscreen cladding can allow detailed cleaning from top to bottom (in low- to high-rises)
- 3It can be cleaned through windows that open inwards
When a rainscreen design calls for a more specialized material, i.e. U-shaped channel glass, a competent glazier should be employed. An experienced commercial glazier can install a channel glass rainscreen system without the need for specialized training.
